I have a hand-me-down 7 1/4" sawcat that is old and most likely has the original blade (looks like a 24T). The info plate on the saw has worn off and the blade has no marking on it. Assuming I can clean up the bottom plate (it's clearly been used on asphalt shingles at least once) and the blade...
Can anyone give me any info on this saw? Have a friend selling one for $50, 13amps. Thinking about upgrading from my black and decker 10amp saw. My B&D saw is 20 years old and working, is the Makita much better?
I have a standard, no bells or whistles circular saw (7 1/4") that I need to use to cross-cut what will become the top of my 61" wide dresser. Any recommendations for a good cross-cut blade that won't give any tear out (the top is 3/4" walnut)?
Thanks
I'd be interested in seeing the various setups for circular saws everyone has. I got one for christmas and I'm still experimenting with different jigs and things to decide how to make straight rip and cross cuts.
Just wondering if anyone has used this or similar laser attachment. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I need all the help I can get. Is it accurate enough for small projects-miters, etc? Thanks,
Dick

I'm making an hourglass and need some advice on the bases. The plans show an ogee profile around the circumference of each base but this is something I haven't done before. I turned a guide block out of pine that I could stick to the base and let the bit bearing ride along it but I wonder how...
Find out on "How It's Made" 1/6, 11:30pm on the Discovery Channel. Just saw it tonight and learned a lot. Looks like Leitz makes Festool's blades if you watch carefully.
I have a Dewalt circular saw...got it about 10 years ago. It has worked fine up until recently...a few bumps here and there along the way...but always something I could fix.
Recently I went to use it and found that it will not cut at 90 degrees. I have changed the blade, checked the angle...
Currently, i have a supply of cedar and popular that i am working through and i haven't a need for more lumber, although i want some but for now the need side of me is suppressing the wants; however after reading the post in the thread about milling out a tree, I was wondering what is the...
What are experiences here with the best circular saw? Talked with a guy yesterday about his Milwaukee 7 1/4 inch, to which he said, "It's okay for framing, but not for finish work. The Makitas are far and away superior to Milwaukee." What are your experiences?
All my life I've used circular saws that were "right-bladed." By that I mean that from the back of the saw, the motor is on the left and the blade on the right. And for the most part I use the guide on the plate to follow the cut line until I get to the end of the cut, where I have to lean...

Does anyone here have festool's plunge cut saw? I am curious as to how narrow a piece a stock can be ripped. The application would be for solid wood filler stiles on factory cabinets. Say ripping a 4" wide stick down to 2.5". I need an occasional jobsite saw and would rather buy something I...
Been looking for a new circular saw. Got this PC Saw Boss from The Savannah Toolhouse. Ordered on Wed. at lunch and got it Friday afternoon. The one on the left is old faithful.
This morning on the first of my trips to Lowes today, saw an end cap with statement saying circular saw blades were 10% off in May. The display included both 7 1/4" blades and 10" blades. Took a 10" blade and had them check price- 10% off also. Might be a good time to jump on one of the...
I currently have a 7 1/4 Skil saw I have had since the early 1980's that still runs strong but it weighs a ton and not really considered a "light duty" trim saw!
I have been looking around for a decent 5 1/2 - 6" trim saw. (I have a 14.4 V Dewalt that came as part of a combo, but it ain't...
