Well, you know the old saying about measuring twice and cutting once? I seemed to have forgotten that this morning on a quickie project!
I carry around motor oil, brake fluid, etc in the back on my Trooper and have always used an el-cheapo plastic container. Well, I have always said I needed...

Does anyone have a plan for making a simple jig to cut mortises for loose tenons in the end-grain of a rail using a plunge router with edge guide? I have a couple of ideas, but I am soliciting better ideas. There is so much experience out there, I know that someone has the ideal solution...
I am close to the point in building of my wife's Xmas kitchen hutch where I'll be cutting the crown moulding for it. I have never done crown before :5dunce: and would rather not have to make to many practice cuts in $3.00 a l.f. moulding8-O I did by a cheap piece of MDF crown to practice with...
I have a nice cherry burl that is still green. Does anyone have any advice, or know of a good resource that can help me with how to cut it up and how to protect it from drying too fast/slow????? I would greatly appreciate ANY help out there....
btw.... I crudely measured the ball with a tape...
My wall cabinets in my kitchen are going up well and look very good. I am about to start the doors but need to complete the corner cabinet I recently discussed on a post. Need advice on a safe cut for the wine bottle area. I am going to crisscross solid strips of cherry with 1/2" boards...
I received my goody bag of pen blanks that Jeff.. had cut on different biases than normal blanks are cut: 22.5°, 45°, & 90° to the grain (cross cut)
Here's the first victim in the experiment, a 90° cross cut curly Sycamore.
Other side...trying to pick up the chatoyance in the curl :-D...
For maximum figure expression and ease of turning?? If it makes any difference my lathe swing is only 9".
And is this even worth turning into a bowl. It's Silver Maple from a client's front yard.

I need some rough cut lumber. Not much, and nothing fancy, I just need to build a couple rough tables that will sit outside.
I'm wondering about a mill maybe or similar near Knightdale, preferably?
I made the fences out of a board I got out of a trash pile. Do'nr know what kind of wood it is but it looks nice. The bottom is 3/4 mdf.
I put stops for both directions to save the fences
The rounded edge is for a miter fence that I have not figured out how to mount yet. I made the sled...
Hi,
I have a scrap piece of countertop that I got years ago at Home Depot. It appears to be 1" particle board (not MDF) with laminate on both top and bottom. I wanted to trim 2 sides of it. I'm assuming this will not be great for my table saw blade. Will it ruin it pretty quickly, or is it OK...
I am just about ready to start my first cabinet/built-in project. :eusa_clap I plan to use dados and was wondering how deep you cut them in 3/4 shop grade red oak. I ran some test samples with 3/16, 1/4 and 3/8 and the 1/4 looks good but I have no experience to help base my decision.
PS...
Last night I milled some walnut and glued up to make a 4x4x43 inch post for a floor lamp. Today I marked the tapers, cut on the BS and cleaned up with the jointer. Looked perfect until I stood the post on end and realized I DumbA'd out and forgot to cut the ends square after the glue-up and...
I need to cut a 1/2" x 1/4" rabbet on all four edges of a piece of 3/4" curly maple. The result will be a 1/4" x 1/4" tongue. My biggest concern is chip out, curly maple is bad about that. My choices are: rabbeting set for the RT with changeable bearings (smallest cut 3/16"), new 1/2" straight...
We scavaged some wood from my brother-in-laws downed trees this morning. What do I need to use to prevent checking? And my next question will probably be - how do I do that?
I have about 10 rough cut cedar boards, 2 inches thick, about 12 inches wide and about 14 feet long. Very few knots. I want to re-saw them into 1 inch thick. They have been in a garage for about 7 years. So they are dry. Is this possible? I checked with some local cabinet shops and even with a...
My FIL just got a new Griz cabinet saw. He has been coveting my sled for a while so the LOML suggests that I make him one. OK, great idea, but then my BIL says that he really is looking forward to making one for himself. But we know he doesn't have the time. So I came up with a kit that we will...
