My wall cabinets in my kitchen are going up well and look very good. I am about to start the doors but need to complete the corner cabinet I recently discussed on a post. Need advice on a safe cut for the wine bottle area. I am going to crisscross solid strips of cherry with 1/2" boards. These are just as the comercial guys would make them, attaching about a 3/4 inch section to the front and back of the opening. Here is my concern. I thought of preparing a wide board and cutting the 1/2" dado cut across it and coming back and ripping it to size. I can see making a box jig for the individual boards but I did that with walnut on my nightstand and had some tear out. Thoughts and suggestions would be welcomed.

your idea of cutting a wide board and then ripping is a good one. make the board a little wider than you need so if you get tearout you can remove it when you rip the strips.
