A coworker needs to have an antique oak table refinished. It has a stain that needs to be taken out which will require the surface be taken down evenely across the top and then the table will need to be refinished to match the remainder of the table.
Does anyone have a recommendation for...
Well folks, I am sorry. Many of you offered some solid advice on what router I should get when I asked a couple of weeks ago. As I conducted my research, and I like to look at everything before committing to purchase, your recommendation on the Triton 3.25 HP router was superb. I also missed...
Morning all,
I am looking into purchasing one of these but have never used one. I know there are variable speed models as well as other options.....
Would appreciate your suggestions/comments for a good, well priced model.
It will be used for some trim/finish carpentry, cabinet work, detail/work...
Well the 30 year old craftsman routers I have failed. I had two and inherited two, and over the last couple of years all have failed. Kind of get use to the sparks the worn out brushes emit, but then other pieces start falling apart too. I am stationed overseas as a D.O.D. teacher and have...
I am thinking about picking up a regular skew for spindle/flute work. I saw the video by John Lucas on Woodturners Resource last night and it helped me a lot....I was wondering what size to get first. I have an oval skew already but wanted to try a regular one like John used in the video. I...

Hello all.
Mark's thread reminded me that my roof is nearing the end of its life and I need to start looking for someone to replace it within the next year or so.
Can anyone recommend a roofer in the Winston area?
Thanks!
Bill
Much as it pains me to admit, I missed one of the sources of leaks when I fixed my roof last year.
I think this is a sidewall flashing problem where a roof-valley channels a ton of water against a sidewall.
Can someone recommend a good roofer ?

Looking for feedback/recommendations for a face shield for turning.
Just the regular ol' shield is fine for me....
Example: http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/2080838/29193/Adjustable-Face-Shield.aspx
I'm definitely not interested in air shields. I'd like to keep it under $25ish... Looking...
I'm not much of a plywood person; have used solid wood for all of my projects to date. However, it's time for me to "go over to the dark side".... and I could use some advice.
If you were going to obtain some plywood to have on hand for general shop use (jigs, fixtures, etc), what type of...
I think it's time to get a new compressor. The one I have right now is El Cheapo from Harbor Freight, bought for the exorbitant price of $40. It's worked OK for the last three years, but it is LOUD, and runs fairly hot with associated oily smell.
I will probably get a big stationary compressor...
I am wanting to install a wood floor in my house entryway, but I would like to have someone remove the existing ceramic tile. It's on a concrete slab. Area is about 90 sq ft. Anyone know a good handyman or contractor? I really would like to hire a small a contractor or a good handyman, rather...
It's that time of year again, and I have 2 A/C units at the house and 1 at work that could probably benefit from a yearly tune-up. Anyone have recommendations on HVAC contractors that they have used and trusted?
The contractor who built our house used WeatherMaster to install our system, and...
I have, or used to have until my brother borrowed it a year ago, a Bosch variable speed model. I was never all that happy with it. Can't remember the model number but it's the only Bosch tool I've not been completely happy with.
Since he apparently likes it:roll: I thought I'd get myself a...
I've attempted just about everything with wood except turning. Now it's time. I would love to hear your recommendations for a "beginner's" lathe. I don't want to buy a lathe just because it is cheap, but I don't want to spend a fortune either. As we all know, having the correct tool for the...
I just realized I'm coming up on the 10th anniversary of my train repair shop, which will also be the 10th anniversary of a set of Wiha Tools screwdrivers I purchased when I opened for business.
I've been through a LOT of screwdrivers over the years, but none have come close to holding up the...
My interest is peaked in the hollow form turning (with the use of hollowing systems) and was wondering if anyone could make an recommendations on where to start learning more on the subject ... like a good DVD, or website with good "beginner" info.:eusa_thin
