I used Minwax Red Mahogany to get the dark...

Most of the lumber I had was taken to a High School in Davidson. I still have some nice stuff for sale though. I still have some 4/4 Poplar in 5' lengths, and some gorgeous 5/4 red oak in 5' lengths. This is nice straight, flat, kiln dried wood, in 5' lengths. Widths vary from 5" to 10"...
Has anyone ever heard of brown poplar? I was at the mill today and he showed three pieces about 14 inches wide and 16 feet long. The mill mistro swore to me that it was poplar. It had a mixed color of black walnut and mahogany with a poplar grain. I am just curious because I have never...
I have some beautiful kiln dried, rough sawn, clear 4/4 poplar lumber for sale. Lengths are in 5 foot or 7 foot lenghts, widths from 4" and wider. No cupping or bends - nice flat boards. I have approximately 300 BF, but I will split it into smaller orders. $1.50 / BF. Thanks for looking! HELP...
I need several hundred lineal feet of 3/4 X 3 1/2 kiln dried & pretty clear poplar or other inexpensive wood to use as baseboard in my shop and truck garage. Lengths of 12-16 feet would be ideal. It could be rough cut at 1 1/8 X 4" or 8" wide.
Thanks,

If you are like me (my deepest sympathies), you save your scraps.
I'm working on a little Mortise chopping evening for the Hillsborough Orange Woodworkers group.
We are "pretending to make table legs".

I need to get a hold of a piece of clear, 8/4 poplar, about 9" X 14". I'm going to use this to make a birthday present (name puzzle stool) for a fine young man. I am willing to pay for it and pick it up.
Thanks,

22 Poplar tree logs, ranging from 12 - 21 inches in diameter, 5 - 10.5 feet in length. Most are 8 feet+. Very nice wood, cut from three large trees. Trying to keep them out of the landfill.

I posted the other day about having too much poplar and a major reason was picking up what I thought were gum rounds that looked and smelled like poplar when I cut into them. I had expected the gum heartwood to be dark. Anyway, after a couple of days of exposure, I am beginning to think it is...
EDIT - I posted another thread after a day or two because it started to become evident that the "sweetgum" might actually be sweetgum after all. It isn't as dark as I expected though. Anyway, closing this thread as it seems I don't have a massive amount of poplar after all.
I am lousy...
Ivey is heading up to my farm this Friday, and he has room on the trailer for some of his prized cypress and poplar. He can leave it at my farm for pickup by North Carolina Woodworker members either on Friday, over the Memorial Day weekend, or next week.
I will be glad to hold your order here...
This is a bowl that I made out of the Spalted Poplar that I got a couple of months ago from a friend - this is going to him for letting me have the wood - Plus he called me today and said that he had me some Spalted Oak there at the mill waiting on me if I wanted it - I will be picking it up...
