I need to get a hold of a piece of clear, 8/4 poplar, about 9" X 14". I'm going to use this to make a birthday present (name puzzle stool) for a fine young man. I am willing to pay for it and pick it up.
Thanks,

I posted the other day about having too much poplar and a major reason was picking up what I thought were gum rounds that looked and smelled like poplar when I cut into them. I had expected the gum heartwood to be dark. Anyway, after a couple of days of exposure, I am beginning to think it is...
EDIT - I posted another thread after a day or two because it started to become evident that the "sweetgum" might actually be sweetgum after all. It isn't as dark as I expected though. Anyway, closing this thread as it seems I don't have a massive amount of poplar after all.
I am lousy...
Ivey is heading up to my farm this Friday, and he has room on the trailer for some of his prized cypress and poplar. He can leave it at my farm for pickup by North Carolina Woodworker members either on Friday, over the Memorial Day weekend, or next week.
I will be glad to hold your order here...
This is a bowl that I made out of the Spalted Poplar that I got a couple of months ago from a friend - this is going to him for letting me have the wood - Plus he called me today and said that he had me some Spalted Oak there at the mill waiting on me if I wanted it - I will be picking it up...
Hi all,
I've just finished making two signs for a resturant my family is opening. I've made them out of poplar and they will ultimately be painted, but since they'll be outdoors, I thought they might need more than just paint.
What would be the best way to ensure these will stand up against...
No connection to it, but how can you pass up a deal like this....er, I just don't have the storage room.....

I just got a commission for a bathroom vanity and they are interested in building it out of poplar. I'll probably need a little bit of 8/4" for the "posts/legs", some 4/4", and some plywood, maybe 1 sheet. Anybody know where to find that around here?
It is going to be painted white, so grain...

I am trying to find some Magnolia or Tulip Poplar that is around 14" wide and 6/4 thick. Preferably at least air dried. Please e-mail me if you have some. I could possibly use 5/4.
Picked up about 320 bf of kiln dried select poplar today paid for 4/4 but almost all the boards are sawed heavy 4/4 to 5/4. 6ft- 10" long and 9' long $1.80 per bf. anyone need some of it? It's local lumber saved from the tub grinder!
