I need several hundred lineal feet of 3/4 X 3 1/2 kiln dried & pretty clear poplar or other inexpensive wood to use as baseboard in my shop and truck garage. Lengths of 12-16 feet would be ideal. It could be rough cut at 1 1/8 X 4" or 8" wide.

Thanks,

Not sure if you can use green, but just thought I'd through this out there:

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/mat/2174251286.html

We cut to your specs. Our saw mill can cut up to 18 inches wide and 17 ft long. prices are as follows

Pine .50 bf
Oak .75 bf
poplar .75 bf
cedar 2.00 bf
black walnut 4.00 bf
spalted hickory 4.00 bf " limited sizes"

Pine Beams are .30 bf "8in x 12in and larger"
Pine siding is 1.00 bf

If you are not sure how much a bf "board foot" is. It's a sq ft 1inch thick so a 12in wide board 1 inch thick and 10 ft long would be 10bf.
here are some examples

2x4x10ft =7.5 bf
2x6x10ft =10 bf
2x8x10ft =15 bf
4x4x10ft=13.2bf

if you would like to --------->"PLACE AN ORDER"<---------- call Tim at 919-247-1985. Please don't call and waste my time if you're not a serious buyer. The wood is green and cut to order.

Thanks for all of the input. I'm going to use the pre-primed MDF for the shop and the poplar for the library. I have decided to use treated in the truck garage.

Bobby,

In the past I have used the cheap 1x4 treated pine in garages as baseboard. But instead of just putting it up, I tilted the table saw blade to about 15 degrees and ran the board through on edge. That way, it makes the board look bigger than it is and makes a good looking base that can take the moisture.
