    wiring advice?

I hired a guy to do some (mostly) electrical work a while back and he did a good job. Later I got him to come back again to handle some repairs I couldn't do. Then about 6 weeks ago I got him to come over to remove the light/vent over my stove. It had been wired so we had the light but the...

Do I need the ROMEX insulation on 10-2 wiring?

I am going to add an outlet very close (16") to an existing one and I will reconfigure the existing outlet box as a junction box, with the infeed and have two outfeeds going to each outlet. Things are getting tight and I was wondering if I could remove the outermost ROMEX stamped insulation and...

    Wiring a workshop

I've reached the stage of my workshop where I need to wire it from scratch. I figured I'd think out loud to make sure I'm not missing something. It's a 12'x20' building that is close to my house and I should only need about 45' of the expensive wire from the main to the lug. The plan is to...

    Wiring 220v plug?

I have my first 220v tool and I need to change either the plug end or the socket because they don't match. From what I have read here and elsewhere I have gathered that in single phase it does not matter which of the two "hots" goes to which prong - as long as the ground is correct. Am I right?

PSA - CPSC Recall of Certain DIY Books

The mechanical side of wiring the workshop

Work is progressing on the shop, slowly but slowly. After several weeks of taping, mudding and sanding, I've moved to priming and painting. That means less dust but getting the gunk off my hands is now slightly more difficult (paint instead of plaster). :tinysmile_tongue_t: Once the painting is...
