Hello Everyone... Just joined this week.

:saw:Hi .... My name is David and live in Hillsborough. I found this site by accident and was really impressed so far by what I've seen. I was introduced to woodworking by an older gentleman, Alan Austin, from Durham while working in a carpentry shop. I enjoy woodworking but by no means a...

A great week for NCWW visits!

The last week sure has been a good one for NCWW visits! Thanks to Phil Soper, I now have a new 12' rolling ladder for the shop, and I have already discovered that it is going to be a great asset. Earlier this week I stopped by to see Michael Manfre, who kindly put together a "wax run" for...

    A week in Asheville

I'm fortunate to be spendiing this week in Asheville, making sawdust with Greg Paolini (his bow arm Morris chair workshop). If I remember I'll take some pics. And while the locals complain about the heat, it's a lot nicer than Raleigh's 100 degree plus summer. Yesterday we spent some time at the...

What a week, a few new additions and I need some advice!!

hey everybody, Well, I've only had time in the last 6 months or so to produce a few small turnings, but last weekend I finally got around to re-organizing the shop. To make a long story short, my wife just gave birth to our 2nd son on the 15th, and things have been really frantic. I hope...

    Turning Class This Week

Was a lot of fun. It is self-directed, which I like. I get to pick the project and learn what I want. I got to see a lathe jump when someone (not me) had a catch and a big green blank got knocked off-center. I learned on a small blank to make a glue-on tenon out of hw and not pine after I...

What I did on my two week vacation?

I spent a lot of time in the woods playing lumber jack and just as much time running the sawmill in southern IL. Made a bunch of new contacts, established a great paying market for fresh off the log lumber and got 4 tracts of forest land lined up to harvest :)

We need a week one donations drive update

I'll be glad to do it if Andy is tied up with work. The donations have essentially fizzled out in the last few days. We need to bump the spirit up a bit. Week one has been great and we need to encourage the members to donate to help us reach the goal.
