    small catalpa HF

Could be more hollow and better formed and it has no finish yet. I could use some advice on finishing; it is so soft that it is really hard to get it smooth and I fear it will soak most finish up like a sponge.

    A small maple HF.

This is a small maple vase that I turned from a bump that was on a round of maple I cored some nice bowls from. They are still drying, but this one dried in a couple weeks since I turned it to finial thickness to start. It has a little of everything. It is 4 1/2" tall by 3 1/4" in dia. Finished...

    small cast iron pan/hibachi/???

I have been keeping an eye out for a cheap or free old hibachi or frying pan or ??? that is cast iron and big enough to use as a "mini-forge". The idea is you take an iron vessel, line with all clay clumping cat litter and you can use a torch to heat steel (tool or knife blanks) to anneal it for...

    Small persimmon spoon

A little spindle turning and hollowing (off the lathe) practice: It will be a small token of appreciation for someone who granted me fishing access. He likes primitive folk goods and there were several persimmon trees on his property. This came from Jack (no, I didn't cut down a tree to...

    Small Air Compressors

I have one problem and two questions. 1. I bought a small H-F oil lubricated air compressor about a year ago. It has worked great until yesterday. It will not generate more than 40 psi and there is air coming out of the intake filter. I am thinking that the intake valve is stuck open and is...

    A small bowl.

My mother asked me to turn a small vase for my Aunt who is turning 88 next month. She lives in a retirement home so it had to be on the small side and finished before Aug. 15. I only had a small piece of wood that was already dry so I decided to turn it into a small HF. I then turned a small...

    Small box joinery problem

I'm working on the prototype for a small box and I'm having trouble picking the joinery. In the picture below, you can see the front and one side as it should appear when assembled. The front is 1/4" thick and the side is 3/8". Because the front is offset from the end of the side, fingers and...

    Small Sign Kit Needed

Hi Y'all, I have the Milescraft Sign Maker that I can rout 1&1/2" & 2&1/2" letters in a sign. Does anyone know of a smaller set made for the router or even a rotary tool such as the Dremel? I would desperately like to have a set that I could rout 1/2", 3/4", 1" letters and #s for smaller signs...

    Finish sanding small pieces?

I was using my 5" ROS to finish a large box last night and had the thought that a smaller box would be almost impossible to sand this way. I had read of using an inverted 1/4 sheet ROS finish sander, seems like a good idea. :dontknow: Just curious how some of you do it???
