    Cypress?

There is a mill nearby that saws & sells cypress. I need to replace the sides on my utility trailer, and this guy's pricing on cypress seems good. Would cypress be suitable for such use? If his wood looks good, I think I see some projects in the future... :eusa_danc

    Sinker Cypress

Was checking out a new post by Glennbear, "Recycled Lumber". Some of their things are made from "sinker cypress". I was curious about its origin and appearance. Interesting stuff, but the "call for $ pricing" tells me they aren't giving it away...

    Cedar vs. Cypress vs. Mahogany

I'm building some Adirondack chairs. I built the sample out of Cedar and got a lot of tear out where I drilled the screw holes close to the edge, I’m also concerned about strength long term. It looks and feels great though. I’m considering Cypress or Mahogany. I’ve worked with Mahogany before so...

Made a trip to Mark Patterson sawmill and met Moses and Neil. Nice operation they have there, and wonderful wood. The sold me some nice cypress and I turned it into an Adirondack chair. Moses also gave me a nice little sample of wood that pen turners might be interested in. I'm working the...

    Hard finish for cypress

So I've decided to build some new cabinetry for our boat and think that cypress would be good material because of it's outdoor wearing abilities. The boat is a mid size coastal cruiser and is subject to heat, cold, nearly constant high humidity, and the occasional splash, unnoticed leak, and...
