The stain in this maple is hard to beleave. It's going to be a long wait for it to dry. The largest bowl is around 17" IN DIA. The wood is solid as well.
Thanks,
Jack

Last week I drove up to Mooresville to see Rick at The Moulding Source and get a supply of lumber for some upcoming projects. I came home with some really nice Genuine Mahogany (Honduras). Getting kind of hard to find this stuff. I decided that I would use this to build the strip kayak. I cut...
My first meeting resulted in a small haul of old iron:
-Stanley 78 Rabbet Plane
-Stanley #5 1/2 Plane
-Stanley Standard Angle 9 1/2 block plane
Plan to do restorations on them
Started with the block plane and already making shavings!
Great fun yesterday! Only set me back $40 bucks!
Had went by my local K-Mart a couple of days ago and they were clearancing out some tools and hardware. Most everything was gone. Remembered seeing some finish on sale so I went back today. Ended up with all this for $60.85. Workbench, pegboard, hooks, wall unit and 3 cans of minwax poly. What's...
So, last week I hit up a CL ad on some firewood and standing tress. Here is what I ended up taking away from his house on Sat.
What you see is a good mixture of all Spalted Dogwood, I think Red Maple butt, and Poplar, and about 1 hrs of sawing. That wasn't even the worst part, after the...
Went down to the mill this morning and picked up 393 bf of No. 1 select cyprus lumber. Was lucky enough to find the sizes I needed that were dressed on all four sides.
I guess this is my Christmas gift to me. Bought a load of cherry and walnut from Jack (saw4you) today in Rolesville. Was planning on just buying about 200ft of walnut and wound up looking like this-don't try this at home!
Jack is a nice guy and would highly recommend him for your lumber...
Well I started off this morning bright and early pulling a load of 1x7 flat sawn and 4/4 quartersawn sycamore to Scott's kiln (pictures taken last night)
We unloaded and everything went well, they were stacking the kiln carts when I left. So I head up 440 to US 1 on my way to pick up logs, low...
I helped my local wood guy and sawyer slab up some Walnut, White Oak, and Beech today.
This isn't my stuff but I directed the cuts and can have the pick of it. I will likely do some bartering- a cabinet for some wood. We slabbed most of the larger Walnut logs (pics posted previously) but still...
Sorry for the quality of the pictures, but I had just blown off the sawdust and was still in the air. I was just going to buy the Excaliber overarm guard for $150, but he dropped the price on the Woodtek 6 x 89 belt sander to $175 and I could not pass it up. I need to pick up a 3" hose for the...
