    Jewelry Box WIP

I'm done with the case and lid for 2 jewelry boxes made of teak. in the third picture you can see the lid is curved. Size: 14.5 wide and 10" deep and 10" tall. think....tall toaster oven. it is made of layers of 1/8 inch bending plywood, shaped on a bending form in a vacuum bag. the front...

Coopered Veneered Doors - anybody ever tried?

i'm tentatively planning on using hardwood core, cooper it, shape it, and then using shop-sawed veneer to go over both front and back. i have a small vac bag and i'm itching to use it on a curved form. so if this sounds like a lot of trouble, it is and i'm fine with it. i'm not looking to be...

    Veneer glue for humidor?

Hey, everybody. I am making a small, desktop humidor. The sides are made of spanish cedar and the top MDF. I am adding rosewood veneer on the outside. I was looking at titebond for veneer, but in the product specs it says not appropriate for high humidity. What glue should i use? Thanks, Jeff

How to veneer square table legs?

I'd like to build 3"x3" square table legs using 8/4 walnut. I'm thinking I could glue two boards (2x3 each) together and then veneer each side using 1/8" veneer cut from the same board. If I go this route, do I miter the edges of the veneer to hide the seam? Can I chamfer the edges afterward or...

Extra Thick Veneer and stringing for Federal Period Inlay Fans

During the workshop at Bill Clemmons' place in Liberty, NC, we made some Federal style fans like the one pictured. Several people were interested in buying some of the thick veneer and stringing for making these and requested I try to get some in small quantities, and list it for sale on my...

    Burl veneer

Hi All, I am looking for smaller pieces / scraps of burl (or other interesting) veneer ranging in thicker depths. As small as 1 inch sq, but larger is welcome. I am new to learning about veneer, but the Mappa burl for one, is of interest. I'm near Charlotte. T I A, Jenna

    New Guy - old skills

I'm up in Youngsville, NC and found this site while looking around at thickness sander reviews. Most of my woodworking today is limited to home projects and British car restoration - you'd be surprised how much wood is in some of those old cars. Professional experience - long ago -...

Looking for a a wood selection to complement lacewood veneer work

Working on a commission piece for someone who wants the panels veneered with lacewood. I don't want to do the edges of the top or any of the trim in lacewood as it would be way too much, so I'm looking for a combination to match well. Final finish will be dark, if not ebonized, so long as...

    veneer over quartersawn

I'm building a large round table out of cherry. I found a pretty good deal on some quartersawn cherry that won't break my budget (too badly anyway). I'd originally dismissed the idea of doing any contrasting veneering to the top - like a medallion in the center or banding ("tiger" maple?)...

FS: ~1200-1400 sqft of Mappa Burl Veneer

Edit 7/30/11: Willing to trade as well... primarily in need of some 3/4" maple plywood for various interior projects I've got going on but open to ideas. If this is the wrong place to post this let me know... Classifieds specified lumber should go here and this is kinda sorta lumber. In any...

    Veneer Job

Special thanks to Bobby G and for the use of his enormous veneering bag setup I was able to reclaim this 100 y/o drawer. I could not keep the pattern because: It was 'branded on' when built. And I had to sand down so far to get to smooth substrate. And even then I had to fill and smooth again...
