    Crazy Simple Bowl Steady

Has anyone made a Bowl Steady similar to this one before? It seems so simple to me I figure there's got to be a catch or something. http://www.woodturnerruss.com/BowlSteady.html

    Spindle steady

I made this little rest: It will go from about 1/4" to about 2.5". It only has 2 adjustments, with 2 wheels on the bottom and one on the top, so it is quick to attach and detach. My main motivation was for woodwinds, but it obviously comes in handy for other chores. :rolf:

    New steady

Got my new steady rest finished today, ugly but strong :swoon: Only showing one arm on it, because it shares the long arms thats on the 12" steady, and 4 of them are in use right now. New steady 12" steady in use:eek:

Steady Rest #2 & Hollowing Rig

I've really got to get turning ... and better yet, hollowing!:gar-La; This is a bit of a gloat, but also a little bragging about my neighbor Wesley and his capabilities... This is the second design for a steady rest that he's put together. This one uses a four-post design, tool-less arm...

    Steady Rest Sneak Peek

If you've turned on a lathe, then you'll understand the need for a steady rest (something that keeps the workpiece from vibrating, and thus the tool chattering during the cut). I've been wanting one but good quality metal ones can run $500+ ... well, I'm getting closer to having one! My...
