Hi All,
I had this wood shipped form CA for a project then the client cancelled the job. The wood came from a felled Red Wood during a storm.
Very hard to get.
Hoping someone can purchase the wood and make something beautiful with it!
Used some redwood that I had hanging around, and added SYP decking for the back and bottom that are not visible. Not shown in the picture are the pvc inserts I made using leftover exterior trim and gorilla glue. Box on left has CWF oil finish and bow on right is unfinished.
I'm looking for some Western red and Atlantic white cedar to build a kayak. Anyone looking to unload some or know where I can get some cheap in the Raleigh area? I'm certainly willing to travel some if the price is right.
Looking for some 6/4 or 8/4 min 8" wide x 8'. Anyone know where one might find some. I'm sure there is some out there somewhere and I will be searching the net but thought I would post here and maybe get lucky.
Thanks,
Mike
Here's the bench as it looked fresh out of the shop:
Here it is after sitting outside for a year and a half:
I didn't put any finish on it originally. I wanted to see how it would weather. Today I just wiped off the bird poop and applied a little Teak Oil.

My niece's husband wants to make a planter with some Redwood - Does anyone know if Rick at The Wood Source has any or if anyone knows of a source in the Mooresville area
I haven't used a lathe since 8th grade shop class, but I finally got one for christmas. Anyway, here is my first turning in a long time
this is a bunch of fun! I'm a complete amateur at this turning thing, but it is fun.
