I want to build the blanket chest featured in last months Fine Woodworking. It has 5/4x10" ash panels and the top is a one piece 5/4 x16"x4'. I have called around 5 various suppliers including The Hardwood Store and have not found it yet. I may have to do a glue up for the top, but I do not have...
I am looking to avoid hand planing a curly maple table top that is over 3' wide. Does anyone know of a shop that feels sorry for lazy woodworkers for a small fee in or near Charlotte?

Anyone ever turn a single wide into a shop? Anyone think it can be done?
We are looking at a tract of land that has a single wide on it. It is an old one and I do not think it would be worth very much. Trying to think of different ways I might use it before I just have it towed off. Hay...
Just listed on WoodWeb today for $1700. Just like mine and now retails for 4300. Nothing even close for the money.

This one has the WoodWrangler's name all over it.
Good luck, Dino
Ok Ok, so it's not on a project, but I have been thinking of tackling some projects that have wider dovetail joints in them so I needed some practice. Hand cutting the wide ones has always scared me because of how long it takes me to fiddle with the smaller ones. But a couple of new...

hi... i am looking to get a 15/16" thick x 8" wide x 20" long board of curly maple resawn into two 1/4" boards and one 3/16" veneer (if possible) and also 2, 2" thick x 7" wide x 19" long boards of mahogany resawn to get an 3/16" veneer from each, and then have the mahogany and 1/4" thick curly...
Made a trip to East Wake Hardwoods today and picked up a huge Sapele board which equated to 24.5 bf in one board. :notworthy: 14' L x 21" W x 1 1/8" thick. It's a shame I couldn't afford to get it's mate. :wmad: The real shame is I am going to make table leafs and aprons out of it. Oh well...
does anyone know where i could get an 8" wide, 20"long, 1"thick board of hard maple resawn in raleigh? and also where i could get run through a drum sander after it gets resawn, also in raleigh? thanks so much... jonny
I've got a couple of boards of Ash about 7' x 10" x 2". I need to resaw the boards in half for my rocking horses. I've tried to do this on my little Grizzly bandsaw, but it doesn't seem to have the power (nor do I have an adequate blade, I'm sure).
Anyone in Charlotte have a better saw who...

Just got in two nice (very little knots) Black Walnut logs in, above average size and grade. Logs should dress out at least with 14" wide boards with some 16 and above.
Logs are 18' long but we will cut them back to 8'. We have not sticked them but am guessing it's about 400 ~ 500 BF. This is...
My local wood guy and sawyer will be slabbing some wide 24-30" walnut logs next weekend. Anyone interested?
I got dibs on some QSWO, not sure how much of that I'll leave to others. :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
We would like to try lumber run #5 Sunday (March 11th) in the Harbor Freight parking lot in Raleigh off capital blvd (US 1) around 11:00 AM. When we reach around 1000 BF, well have to close this
We had some interest in pecan (hickory) and poplar. There are several thousand board foot of...
A friend in Raleigh needs access to a wide belt sander - maybe 30-36" capacity. He has a natural edge slab he is making into a coffee table and wants it flattened. I have not seen this piece, but I imagine that most of the slab is end grain. Is anyone aware of shops in the Triangle area that...
I finally finished my son's wide slat bed in red oak.
Thanks to all of you for offering design help on this project.
The project went well except for the jointer ouch...and a screwup on the headboard rail hardware mortising. After carefully matching wood for color and grain on the headboard...
