    Visited Rob's shop today

I went down to Sanford to see Rob's shop today. First, he's been working on getting it more organized and I wanted to see the progress. Second, I wanted to take a close look at one of his jigs to see if I can make my own version. Yea, I'm cheap! :gar-La; The shop is really coming along...

    Visited Scott Smith today.

I picked up some wood for another NCWW member today at Scott's shop. Since I'd been there before on the April Shop Crawl, I figured I'd just grab the wood and run: WRONG! If you can go in Scott's shop and leave quickly, you're probably not an avid woodworker. :nah: There's just too much to...

    visited a local flutemaker

I apologize for the cell phone pics, but the time between contacting him about a visit someday and then having someday come was under a day... I happened across a listing for a maker of NAFs (Native American Flutes): http://www.risingmoonflutes.com/ who bores his flutes (most NAF builders...

Went by and visited Anatoly today..

His turnings are awesome. The distinct difference I notice about Anatoly's turning are the size and the opening at the top of the turnings. Several guys do thinner large vessels but they all seem cylindrical and the top openings are large. He has several pieces that will be in the NC Museum of...

Visited St. Roy's New School - With Pictures!

I'm cross posting this with the Old Tools list as I think that for y'all it's a little closer to home. I played hookey from work today for a long lunch in the sunshine and drove the 30 minutes down the road to Pittsboro, NC where Roy Underhill is opening up a school for Galoot woodworking...

Visited Mike Callihan's Wood Sale Today

Well today I took the ride over to Mike Callihan's place in Burnsville to see the wood he is selling and visited for awhile. The trip was well worth taking the time. Mike has a lot of great looking wood for sale and I got my share (as far as the budget went of course). His shop, which sits...

    I visited 2 fellow WWer's Shops

I spent the last several days in the Washington/Chocowinity, NC area. While there I visited Alan in Little Washington and got a tour of his shop. This was my second visit, the first time being 2+ yrs ago. Alan had just begun the cabinets he made for his shop the first time I was there. I saw the...

    Visited Sawduster today

I went to rob's shop today. Its only 2 feet shorter than mine. Besdies being a really nice guy, let me just say that the pictures of his work do not do them justice!:new_shock In person they are truly incredible! It isn't woodworking so much as art. Doug

    Visited Ivey

Man, visiting Ivey's mill is almost worse than getting hooked on dope! We brought home a full truck/trailer load of the most beautiful cypress lumber imaginable. Many of the boards are 12+ inches in width and very, very clear of knots. I don't know my lumber grades but this is good stuff...
