    Cedar plywood

Anyone know a source for cedar plywood near Charlotte? Looking for 2, 1/4"X4'X8' panels
  2. Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets - the table corner

Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets - the table corner

I took this photo to show the saw kerfs in the top of the table. These do no harm anything as they are all shallow. When the table finally gets too many of these I'll make a replacement table top and transfer the legs to it.
  3. Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets - HDPE guide

Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets - HDPE guide

You can make this piece to fit whatever brand of straightedge you may have. Mine, both the 4' and 8' came from Peachtree Woodworking in Atlanta. They are both identical except for the length and they lock in place from underneath much like the other straightedge clamps on the market.
  4. Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets -2nd view zero clearance foot

Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets -2nd view zero clearance foot

A full view of the zero clearance base. Notice the piece of HDPE on the facing edge. It has grooves in it that match the top of my straightedge so the saw is quided during the cut. This isn't necessary, but makes it easier the saw in alignment with the straightedge during the cut.
  5. Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets- zero clearance foot

Cutting Table For Plywood Sheets- zero clearance foot

This is a piece of 1/8" Lexan that I have cut to make a zero clearence type base for my saw. It is bolted to the saw's foot and has a narrow kerf for the blade to pass through. This almost completely eliminates chip-out. I use a thin kerf carbide blade for plywood
  6. Cutting Table - Straightedge in place for the cut

Cutting Table - Straightedge in place for the cut

I use an aluminum straightedge plus homemade plastic spacers to position it for the correct offset of the fence so the saw cut is on my mark. It is accurate to about 1/32". I always cut the panels slightly large and finish cut them on my table saw.
  7. Cutting Table - Table Tipped Up and Ready For Cutting

Cutting Table - Table Tipped Up and Ready For Cutting

Saw and Straightedge in place. Set the saw depth of cut to the material thickness plus about 1/4". This is a staged photo as I did not actually cut the plywood for this shot, but notice how both pieces of plywood remain in position without falling.
  8. Cutting Table - With plywood loaded ready for lifting

Cutting Table - With plywood loaded ready for lifting

The plywood is against the table and sitting on the cleats, prior to lifting upright. This is a staged photo. A full sheet of plywood could be placed, but it's possible to load and tilt smaller pieces this way.
  9. Cutting Table - Table open with Cleats Turned Out

Cutting Table - Table open with Cleats Turned Out

The table is ready to place plywood against it on the turned out cleats (bottom) prior to lifting the table and plywood upright together. This is more of a tilting process than a full lift and goes easy.
  10. Cutting Table - Table folded in carrying position

Cutting Table - Table folded in carrying position

A table to break down plywood and other construction lumber that is much more comfortable to use than saw horses. It is 84" long and 34" wide, but these dimensions aren't critical. It can be made to any size that suits you. For the next top I will use 1X4 pine for the table edges and...

    Cutting plywood

Really not the best way to support your work when cutting plywood. Not me this time although I did trim the side of one of my rollaround cabinets when not paying attention to what I was doing.

Gluing Walnut to Latex Painted Plywood

I've got some walnut circles (3" diameter) I'm going to glue to a freshly painted (latex) piece of plywood. I assume normal wood glue won't work well, unless I sand the paint off the area I am going to glue. If I decide not to sand it, should I just use gorilla glue or contact cement or would...

putting some of the BB plywood to use

I picked up some of those 1/4" BB plywood scraps a while back and put some of it to use this week, along with some MDF scraps. I've been storing my sawblades between pieces of cardboard in a drawer for years...they're finally getting a little love!

    Need help curving plywood

Hi. I make simple things like my work tables and chicken house, but am not an accomplished woodworker by any means. I have the chance to paint an exterior mural on a 4 ft diameter round kiosk and plan to use a plywood backing, but I need to bend the plywood. The ply I have is nominal 1/4"...

    phenolic plywood

It has been a few months since anyone asked about phenolic plywood so I figured I would post this again to see if any new sources for this type of material have been found in the Raleigh area. Ideally I need a full sheet of 3/4" phenolic plywood to make a table saw extension table and an...

Best tool to sand complex rounded over plywood edge?

Hello, NC Woodworkers! First post here. I routinely need to smoothe rounded over edges on very complex shapes cut out of 3/4" and 1.5" hardwood ply. I have been hand sanding using foam blocks but this has been extremely tedious and not that successful. Then I tried hand sanding with a strip...

Does anyone else want to get in on the Birch Plywood deal?

We had a good group make the trip to Northern Tool this morning for some birch plywood sheetlets (I really like that word, Bas). Unfortunately I was not able to bring enough for everyone that wanted showed up. I wanted to see if there is any interest in doing another local run. I am a little...
