My Mom asked me to build her a cabinet for her to keep her fine linen placemats and napkins in. I would have left it natural and just applied a hand-rubbed finish, but she wanted it to match the existing furniture in her living room.

A friend from church had cut down a couple of cherry trees about 4 years ago and had them sawn. The wood has been drying in a secure shed all this time but he needed the space, so he gave me a couple hundred board feet of beautiful cherry. God bless him!

The cabinent looks beautiful, I like the design, the cuvrature on the base sets it off. What type of finish did you use? Always looking for ideas for design or finish.

The finish is about 10 coats of wipe-on poly, sanded to 600 grit, then hand-rubbed with linseed oil and rottenstone, then a coat of briwax for good measure. The finish took longer than the construction!
