I am not rich enough to buy sticks of African Blackwood, but I was able to buy a bunch of cut off's by the pound, not good for too much but great for making thin rings.
first I cut them into strips about 3/8" thick

The slab you see is probably 8-9 inches around, maybe 10 or better. But the rings are close to an inch! Now hows that for a fast growin...
