hickory

looking for a piece or two of 8/4 hickory

An ideal piece would be a 6' long 2"x12" that was flat sawn right through the center of the pith. I am not sure who has 8/4 hickory around Raleigh in small quatities, that would let me pick through. I won't be at the picnic due to spring Y camp conflict, but if someone will have some there I...

hickory with hand tools?

From what I read everywhere, hickory is a bear to work with any tools, let alone hand tools. What are your experiences? Was thinking about having some quarter sawn chunks dry out to make some planes. Any thought?

maple, beech, hickory, walnut scraps

I need 3/4 or 4/4x2.5x12" scraps of most any hard, tight-grained wood. I make chairmaking tools (handtoolwoodworking.com to see them). If someone is milling any of these woods and can convince me that they aren't infested with powder-post beetles, I would also be interested. Thanks, Elia

5/4 hickory and ask rough cut

Looking for someone who stocks both items in the rough as close to Wilmington as I can get. I can get Ash in Elizabethtown but no luck with Hickory yet. Thanks for any help.
