Turning Spruce?? And source for blanks??

    FREE river birch turning blanks

A birch log landed in my wood yard today, and it's not something that I can use for my farm. It's freshly logged (earlier today), and around 9" in diameter, and around 12' long. If any local woodturners would like to cut some pieces off of it for turning blanks, you're welcome to. Please...

    Casting pen blanks

I need to figure out how to cast pen blanks as I'm getting orders for my ACU camo pens and the way I made the original was just way too time consuming. I need to cast them in acrylic or some other medium. I also need a good way to stabilize unstable wood for turning. Can anyone help me with this?

Black walnut for bowl blanks in Raleigh

Sawduster sent me the link below today (thanks Robert!), and I just followed up with the owner. He has a large (36" DBH) black walnut that came down in the tornado's. Unfortunately, the trunk is hollow and it split off, so there is probably a lot of shake in the remaining trunk wood...

    Large Walnut Bowl Blanks

They guy I get my lumber from has a 36" in diameter Walnut tree that he doesn't know what to do with. He doesn't typically cut saw lumber just for turners but if I can get enough interest I may be able to talk him into cutting one section for bowl blanks. Any interest???

Pen Blanks for Pens For Veterans Or The Like

I don't do pens but have some cut-offs from various projects. Right now I have walnut and mulberry and an unkown wood. I hate throwing away wood. I'd like to give the stuff to somebody who will use it, ideally for pens for veterans or some-such. If you are part of a turning club (or not)...

    Source for practice bowl blanks

I need a lot of practice turning bowls before I end up with something that will not be destined for a fire pit. I picked up a few of the economy blanks during my last trip to Klingspor, but even that is a little bit more expensive than I'd like to pay to practice. Any suggestions would be...

    Bay wood bowl blanks

Recently I was cleaning up around edge of the fields on my farm with the backhoe and pushed what I tought was just an old dead tree down. The top was gone and with no limbs I assumed the entire trunk was probably rotten. When I pushed it over I realized about 10-12' of the trunk was solid. It...
