    Turning Spruce?? And source for blanks??

    Hello, I was wondering if anybody has tried turning spruce and would have any advice? We have a lot of old spruce wood in our school woodshop because they replaced our bleachers last year and kept the wood and I was going to attempt to turn it into pens as gifts for a few teachers around...

    Casting pen blanks

    I need to figure out how to cast pen blanks as I'm getting orders for my ACU camo pens and the way I made the original was just way too time consuming. I need to cast them in acrylic or some other medium. I also need a good way to stabilize unstable wood for turning. Can anyone help me with this?

    Assembling blanks and tubes

    I have been using Gorilla glue for my wood blanks and have been pretty lucky. But am now starting to use acrylics... what do you guys use to glue the tubes in? Thick CA, epoxy< or what?

    Black walnut for bowl blanks in Raleigh

    Sawduster sent me the link below today (thanks Robert!), and I just followed up with the owner. He has a large (36" DBH) black walnut that came down in the tornado's. Unfortunately, the trunk is hollow and it split off, so there is probably a lot of shake in the remaining trunk wood...
