BTW you can leave that one standing and I have one down at the mill you can peel a few blanks off of if you like..
I keep saying that I gotta come by your place and see whatcha got. Well, it's gonna happen soon as I get some free time and you're close by too so I gotta git off my duff and git over there.
Maybe black gum (black tupelo) is a good bet. They make a wonderful summer shade tree if not too crowded and the fall foliage is spectacular. The smallish dark blue berries, produced in late fall, are scarfed up by many types of wildlife. :eusa_thin

I know it's not Dogwood but boy does it look just like the bark on dogwoods with those cubed bark segments. However the tree itself, as viewed from a distance, does sound and look like persimmon.
Sounds like you might have yourself some unknown invasive there my man.
