We got a nice load of mature Black Walnut forest log in the log yard today. So I've decided that's what's I'll cut for lumber run #5. I'll cut the boards as wide as the logs will yield, sort out any bad boards and deliver to the lumber to the kiln to be quality kiln dried by Scott Smith.
What's available :
Upto 1500 BF - Flat Sawn Kiln Died 4/4 Black Walnut @ $4.30 a BF
What you can expect is to receive is fresh rough cut, kiln dried and stabilized lumber to a target moisture content of 6 ~8%, that'll be ready to work as soon as you get it back to your shop.
I'll arrange a pickup somewhere in Raleigh after the lumber is kiln dried, I suspect it'll be 3 weeks in the kiln and should start to be dried once run #4 is dry around Oct 6th or I'm estimating end of October or beginning of November time frame pickup (give or take a week).
