Is this gouge suitable for mallet work?

I have been offered one in trade for my WeCheer listed in the classifieds and the current owner has only used it a couple of times by hand.

As long as you are using a wood or synthetic mallet and not a hammer :eusa_naug, you should be fine.

Mostly I use a smallish maple mallet. Sometimes I use a dead blow with my 30mm Pfiel for bulk wood removal, but I probably wouldn't use a 1/2" for that.
