Has anyone used the carbide tool tips from HF? I am going to try to get to my dad's forge this weekend to make a larger hollowing tool. I will plan on it having replaceable tips. I saw the ones at HF. If you used them. how did you attach them to your tool?
Can you post a link?
Are you talking about the small carbide cutters that screw on? Or the short bar with the cutter braised on?
You may want to check here also if they are the screw on type. You can order just the cutters and screws or the cutters, screws, and bar. He may offer one where the bar is already tapped for the screws. http://eddiecastelin.com/products_and_services
I the ones I have braised on have a short shank (about 4”) so they can’t be used for hollowing, only roughing. Lots listed under “tool bits & blades” at http://www.wholesaletoolcompany.com/?gclid=CI3MqZePjacCFYnc4AodDAyHdw They were about $2.20 but I haven’t reground them yet. To attach them I am using a square hole sleeve. They are made for metal working so I don’t know if anyone has them with longer shanks or not.
