Just in time for Easter, I started turning a few Eggs and other objects so that I could practice some new finishing techniques. Here are the Eggs:

They were turned from Ash and then treated with Behlen Stain for the coloration and then Lime Wax to enhance the grain. Here is a second set of "Peas in a Pod" where the pod was carved out using a Lancelot carving disk.

That is cool~!

Is it difficult to turn the Round pea's?

Thanks!

I had just mounted the blank on the lathe when I remembered seeing an article about turning balls for a croquet set. The author had cut a half-circle template out of some thin plywood to use as a gauge to perfect the "roundness". While at the local Woodcraft today I stopped to admire a fellow turner's naturaly finished work and was glad to see that they were not perfectly round either. Close enough works fine.

Ok...

You have to tell me more about this finish. Is this hard? I think my daughter needs some eggs now!
