I have 2 approx 40' southern magnolias (the kind with the big leaves and large white flowers) in my back yard. The yard is small and they have taken over (no grass, leaves all year, etc, etc, so they are coming down. The trunks are about 12-15" in dia at 4" above the ground and very straight...

a little birdie whispered in my ear this morning an opportunity to score some medium size magnolia trees that will be taken down in the not-so-distant future Does this turn well ? Is it worth keeping track of and pursuing ? Is anyone else interested ? TIA

Magnolia or Tulip Poplar

I am trying to find some Magnolia or Tulip Poplar that is around 14" wide and 6/4 thick. Preferably at least air dried. Please e-mail me if you have some. I could possibly use 5/4.

Magnolia Wood

What are good uses for Magnolia wood? I suppose it would make nice bowls and pens but is it also suitable for furniture projects? Anyone here used it in projects? Got any photos? I may be able to get some tomorrow, not sure how much yet. Don't want to get much of it if I can't use it...
