Now that is in my Price range, and I could use one of those.

Called the Winston-Salem store to check if one was in house. Told, they were out of stock and discontinued. I ordered one on-line. Total came to 20.16 with SHI. Got an order confirmation. will see if it actually pans out.

I thought about it, but in my cramped space, I try to avoid little used or extra convenience stuff. I have a digital caliper from HF. If you have it open and zero it, it works in both directions. I just clamp it suspended upside down to measure thickness or height in the middle of something.

Thanks for the heads-up. Just ordered one myself. I expect there's lots of applications for that mechanism even if its not used in its original form. I fully expect it to be a Chinese battery alligator like many other digital gauges of that ilk. Just don't put the battery in until you use it, and remove the battery after you finish.

Thanks Matt - I ordered 4. They look ideal for mounting onto the drumsander and thickness planer.

Got my little postard note in the mail today saying:

"Cannot be shipped because the manufacturer cannot supply it any longer or because you requested it to be canceled. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."

I figured this was what they were going to do.
