Walker-Turner Lathe in good condition. Variable speed drive. 36-38” between centers and 7 3/4” (15 1/2” diameter) over the cutout and 6 1/4” (12 1/2” diameter) over the main bed. Outboard turning capability. Very heavy, as it is all thick cast iron construction. The best I can tell these were made in the 1940s-1950s. 110v 1ph

Included items are multiple chucks, three tool tests, adapter to attach modern chucks, and the 5 turning tools pictured on the wooden shelf on the lathe.

I hate to sell, as it is a wonderful old lathe that has been well taken care of. My only reason for selling is I have bought a longer vintage lathe and do not have the room for two.

Asking $650 and located in Apex, NC.

Lee - I'm not a potential buyer because I have a similar lathe, though not vintage. Good description, good pics, good deal! It looks like based on pic 7 that there is also outboard turning capacity, but I may be wrong. Nice.
Note that you state the length, but not the max turning diameter - that might be a number that buyers would be interested in.

Thanks for pointing out my omission. I will update the description.

And yes, it does have an outboard turning capacity with a really hefty tool rest/arm.

Had a question about the motor. It is the original Walker-Turner driver motor. These are the best photos I could get, as the motor hangs in the cast iron cabinet and the access doors aren’t all that large.

Curious. Does the outboard face plate have left, and right hand threads?

Left hand threads. I haven’t ever had anything large enough to justify using the outboard side. Everyone I have spoken to about the left hand threads has suggested adding a machine screw to keep it from turning itself off under use.

I have a similar Delta design and the face plate has both left and right hand threads. Strange looking threads but it works. Took it to an old machinist once to get it trued. First time he had ever seen it.

I have heard of these dual threads before, but have never seen them in person. Seems like a good design
