First I turned this pen for the troops.:icon_thum Any guess at the wood used?

Then I prepared an American elm blank that I got from Jeff for turning. That took some balance working at the band saw. I hope to ruff turn this tomorrow. Then soak in DNA. :eusa_danc

I may be showing limited wood knowledge but I will guess osage orange for the wood the pen is made of

I got a few pens turned from jeff's cedar. That's some fine wood. Pictures are comming.


That's a fine looking pen. I can't wait to see that elm blank turned.

I've gotten a couple of pens done, but want to get a few more before I send them. Did we set date that they need to be to you? Seems like 10/17?

I would say that pen is made from a little Am. elm. The only reason I say that is it looks a lot like the pen clay made from Am. elm pictured here:

How big of a dia circle did you get out of that bowl blank square?

It is not American elm?

Cathy If I recall we are to have them in by 10/17. I have 3 more done so total of 4 now.
I have not got out to get the DNA:BangHead: so I have not started on the American elm yet hope to get to Lowes tomorrow when my ride gets home:lol:
