It is just a poly finish with wax on top. The chairs were not too difficult-they have no curves.

I appreciate the compliments. The cushions were simple to cut and my wife cut the fabric and stapled it to the bottoms-she said it was kind of difficult, but then again she always seems to be complaining about stuff-you know, sawdust here and there, woodpiles everywhere, noise from the garage, cigar smoke, tool spending and so on.
