Carved this from an article in Woodcarving Illustrated magazine. It only has one side, kind of blows one's mind.

Yes, it is construction pine I grab from a house being built.

I have seen a couple variations of this, I'd like to try carving one some day.

What are the dimensions? Did you do any saw prep or is it all carved?

The dimensions are about 6"x 6". I cut the basic shape with a band saw. I basically use the outline in the Woodcarvers Illustrated artical to lay it out. The article called for one to rotary sand the rest, I carved the rest.
