Padauk and Shellac
I tried some 50/50 Zinsser shellac and DNA on some padauk and it turned it purple immediately. Ive been using wop on it so I ll guess Ill go back to that on it..But I was wondering why it did that? Because of the oil in it maybe ?- Flute Maker

Finishing Padauk
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if maybe Padauk has some oils in it that dont like a finish?? A while ago I build a drum shell out of padauk. Padauk, Bocote Turning stock (smaller pieces wanted)

Padauk Poker Chip Box Finished

African Padauk
I have been using A Padauk on a few projects recently and I like using a mix of Tung/Blo mix. The African Paduak seems to take forever to dry. Any suggestions out there or is that normal because of the makeup of the wood. It also takes wipe-on Poly longer to dry....stays tacky... -

finishing padauk
I have a small piece of padauk I am turning for a pocket watch. I know the dust gets everywhere and it appears to stain. Should a coat of sanding sealer and 3 coats of wipe on poly be enough to finish it? -
