While digging a trench for a pvc drain pipe today, I discovered a 4" solid corrugated pipe next to the trench I was digging. Mystery (to me) wood?
Who knows what species this is? This is a 16" section from a tree I cut down on my property, and I don't know what it is. When I saw the black streaks, my initial thought was black gum / tupelo. But I've looked at a number of pictures on the web and this tree doesn't look like any of those...- Bill Clemmons

Sierra Click Pen and mystery wood
Just made a Sierra Click Pen and used a piece of wood given to me and have no idea what it is. Anybody got a quess? The wood is hard but easy to turn. My thoughts are a nut wood - hickory, pecan, buckeye!!! James- jimwill48
