Spots on Ash appear after stain

I just applied stain to my ash toppers for a farmhouse bed and noticed a lot of spots in the wood. There was nothing wrong with the application as my other pieces turned out fine. But this thick piece has spots all over it. Any idea what it is and how I can fix it?

Knife Block

I made a simple magnetic knife block for the kitchen a while back like the Mag-Blocks sold by Benchcrafted. We don't have a lot of counter space or drawer space, so it seemed like a good solution. But, those are much better (safer), if they're mounted on a back wall where you don't have to...

Finish for Ash table

Have just finished an end table made out of ash. I am new to the finishing part of woodworking so I need help. What would you all out there recommend for a finish? Am open:confused: to any and all suggestions. thanks to all.

I need 8/4 ash in 8 ft lengths; I can work with four in 6ft lengths and eight in 8ft lengths. Or I will take twelve milled 8ft ash 2x4's.

Ash @ Dean Hardwood's

Ordered some Ash from Dean Hardwoods Friday (see Ad at right). Had it milled S4S 15/16" X 3" X 10.' "Chad" priced it by the pc @ $13.34 ea. Picked it up today; the stuff was clean & straight with minimal imperfections. A good deal. I'll be back. happy WWing, Bob

5/4 Red Oak and Ash for Sale! Possible wood run!

I have some real nice 5/4 red oak and ash in 5' lengths. This wood is kiln dried and beautiful, straight, flat with gorgeous grain. I'm asking $2.50 BF and I have approximately 350 BF of oak and 250 BF of ash. I am in Iron Station, NC. Iwould consider bringing this along to Burlington if amyone...
