Grinding turning tools

On one of the other threads: "Get a grinder from tractor supply for $39. and make the wheels spin backwards, much easier to grind free hand"

Is grinding with the wheels spinning backwards a good process? I have always ground with the grinder set up in normal mode with a wolverine type jig, but am always looking for a better way.

I made mine run backwards, its easier for me, It may not be for other folks.
I have to just make sure I have full coverage goggles or face shield when using it, of course you should anyway.
