    Bowl Gouge Grinding Help

I have a sense that I know what I’m doing wrong, but I’d be most grateful for some experienced guidance. My efforts to put a 50-degree bevel on a new bowl gouge have yielded what I’ll call a scalloped sweep, wherein the bevel is something other than uniform at the leading edge. It almost as if...

    Grinding Mill

Since this was the 1st I'v made I stayed with a simple design. Cherry, 9 1/2" tall, 2 3/4" wide. Still needs a finish and I'm thinking of MinWax Wipe on Poly. The mechanism is made from ceramic and is supposed to crush pepper, salt or herbs so you can use it anyway you want. Thanks for looking.

Thompson Tools bowl gouge and grinding setup

I bought my first bowl gouge last week and I finally got a chance to put a handle on it. It is a 1/2" Thompson V shaped bowl gouge. I don't have much experience with lathes or lathe tools so take all of this with a grain of salt or too. Shipping was great. It arrived before I expected it. And...

    Grinding PVC

Hi, I found a great craft for my kids' Y -guides tribes to make Native American flutes from PVC pipe. Do do this, I need to flatten about 1.5 inch section of the pipe. The web page I found uses a file and sandpaper, which I certainly have, but I need to knock out 16 of these things, so I'm...

    Gloat: Blacksmith Pedal Grinding Wheel

I was at an auction the other night, and what did my bidding card bring home? A little ole grinding wheel! The base is rock solid and the wheel is not cracked. Thanks to Woodartz for helping me move it. For those who wonder, tis sitting center in my living room, where it rightfully...

    Grinding turning tools

On one of the other threads: "Get a grinder from tractor supply for $39. and make the wheels spin backwards, much easier to grind free hand" Is grinding with the wheels spinning backwards a good process? I have always ground with the grinder set up in normal mode with a wolverine type jig, but...

    FREE Grinding wheels

And the are gone I had to replace my old grinder so I bought an 8 inch slow-speed. It came with fine and medium grit white friable wheels. These have a 7/8 bore sleeved down to a standard 5/8, so they are usable on most grinders. However I use the Oneway wheel balancer and it requires one...

    Oneway Wolverine grinding jig

This is going to go somewhat cheap and w/o much action..it is misspelled as One-Way. Good luck. I am no longer bidding. Wolverine P.S. If someone is going to bid on it please let everyone know so that you aren't bidding against each other.

    Wolverine grinding jig

I am in the market for a sharpening system for lathe tools and was wondering about the Wolverine system. I know there are some expensive systems on the market but the Wolverine seems to be pretty easy to set up and use (just from reading the ads). I wonder if anyone has one and what you think...

    New grinding wheel problem

Need some help :eusa_doh: I have an 8'' variable speed bench grinder. I'm using it mostly to sharpen lathe tools. It came with a 60 grit gray wheel and a wire wheel. I thought I'd replace the wire wheel with a white aluminum oxide wheel so today I got a Camel brand 8'' white AO wheel...

    Ceramic Grinding wheel

I recently got a set of 3 ceramic grinding stones. I didnt realize what I had until I looked up the number from Norton. Their signature color is purple. I have never found a wheel that cuts as good as this, with virtually no heat generation. Now I dress my tools using this wheel exclusively...
