Re: walnut diamond wave Update 10/07/07

I decided to give the hand a try and with care I am back in the shop,The tip of my finger is still tender.
I had gauzed this one and was ready to drill, mill, glue, mill and turn it when I injured my hand.
Here it is after squaring the ends of the centers(to establish the starting point for the pattern)

Recently in another threadhttp://www.ncwoodworker.net/forums/showthread.php?t=10648 a comment was made about not using a pen mill on segmented blanks. I got a kick out of that comment because that is all I have been using for the last three years and 95% (or better) of my pens are segmented in one way or another.
I had just finished milling the center sections of this one and because Nelson had asked earlier for an end view picture here it is.
Next step is to rough cut to size before gluing and milling again.
I have decided on a cigar(I may try something different with the "finish").
BTW this is an inlay as opposed to a segment but I figured with the amount of pieces it would still qualify for the type of blank a pen mill is NOT supposed to be used on.
