It’s not finished, when the first coat of oil dries I’ll sand it again and put two more coats of oil.

I have an old shop built lathe from Chambers Aircraft, the retrofitted old biplanes in the 50s. I think this was made to turn the wood axels.

It will turn 18 by 68 inboard. To turn outboard I have to unbolt the drive assembly and turn it around. I would have to make or buy a stand alone tool rest. Then I could go up to 6 feet diameter on a faceplate.

I was cleaning out old scraps and found some maple burl that was left from cutting out a bowl blank. There was just enough to cut two spoons but only if I followed the outline of the bowl. So, I thought ‘why not, that may be interesting’ and I think it works.
