When you apply thin strips to shelf edges (for example) do you usually mitre 45's on the corners or just make butt joints? I have NO experience with this and am trying to finish up some shelves for LOML birthday today.

HELP! (and quickly, please!) :notworthy:

Reggie,

If it's real thin, like iron on veneer edging, I butt joint them doing the front edge last so that it's hardly seen. Anything thicker, I miter.

Hope it helps.

Jimmy:)

Thanks, these are actually 1/8" strips that I made by cutting them off the edge of the same boards I used for the shelf unit. Guess I'll give the old Bosch SRAS a try!

Thanks Jimmy and Dave. Mitered the upper corners and they look pretty good for a JackLeg! :-D

Jimmy, I used contact cement to save time. Seems to be OK.

Got one coat of poly on, waiting for drying to put on the 2nd coat. Made a back from 1/4" MDF and plan to shoot it on with my brad nailer, and that should do it.

Should have it in the house tonight for a late birthday present. Pics later.

Thanks to all who responded. You're the best!:eusa_clap:eusa_clap
