Just finished from Lyptus wood. The wood is hard, but not as bad as Ash or Hickory. I kind of like the "zebra" grain pattern that it displays.

I can't say that I ever seen lyptus with that much figure. Very pretty indeed!

Nice work! I really like that. That's a really cool idea with the hammock seat. Enjoy your cold one and the new chair.

My apologies for not answering your finishing question.

Here's the schedule:

Before assembly sand everything to 120 grit with a ROS (could've gone to 150, but I'm lazy).
2 Coats of Waterlox "Original" and let dry for 24 h between coats in an air conditioned place.
Lightly hand sand with 220 grit with a sanding block.
Third coat of Waterlox and 24 h drying time.

Assemble and touch up with WL as necessary or to your preference.
