I need a thin ring 1/4", gluing up a thin ring is not possible for me maybe some folks can but not me.
The good thing is I almost always need them in pairs.
So I glue up a normal size ring, this one is holly.
And flatten and smooth it on the lathe, as I have no thickness sander ( I have only a few basic and CHEAP tools)

flattened and smoothed

now glue it on the turning.

Turn the second side flat and smooth it

turn the outside and mark the center

part it with a thin partting tool and I have my 2 thin rings

Thanks for the process info, Earl. I've often wondered how some of this is done and now I know a little bit more. As others have stated, and it's the only word that fits, your work is amazing!:notworthy:

Wow!

As someone who has only "tickled" the lathe, your work certainly tickles my curiosity.

and, plants the seed for possible doing some bowl work.

An inspiration for sure!

Keep posting pics!
