Laminating for deep serving bowl

I have a request for 2 large salad serving bowls, about 5" deep. If I laminate a blank should I keep the grain running in the same direction, or opposite? I intend to use the same species of wood.

Considering wood movement and if you plan to use two solid planks of wood laminated together then I would orient the grain the same way.
This should also help to blend the two pieces to look more like one large piece.

As an added design element you may consider a third thin plank of a contrasting colored wood.
