It was my first time, but it was simple with the help of a handy commercial jig. I figured I'd add a post here to show you how I did it ... and maybe it will help you (or maybe you'll tell me I went wrong somewhere :-?)

Step 1 - Get the Jig. I purchased the Woodstock Jointer Pal, but there are others out there.

Step 2 - Open the Jig. Okay, that was easy.

Step 3 - Unplug the Jointer. Be safe.

Step 4 - Align the fence to 90 degrees.

Step 5 - Get the sharp blades ready and unpacked.

Step 6 - Before removing the old blades, find the highest point in their rotation and mark it on the fence (either with a pencil or more permanent with a scratching tool)

Step 7 - Remove the old blades (and the guard)

Step 8 - Insert the new blades.

Step 9 - Place the Jointer Pal on the table and align the marks.

Step 10 - Mark the back line on the Jointer Pal to the Jointer (for easy future alignment).

Step 11 - Tighten the blades. Rotate it to each one and tighten. The blades should be touching the Jointer Pal (magnets make it happen automatically, but make sure)

Step 12 - Make sure the blades are all in alignment with the outfeed table. Place a straightedge on the outfeed table and rotate the cylinder the blades are in.

Step 13 - Stand back and check out your work. :icon_thum

Jeremy,

Since you did such a good job, I thought it more appropriate in the Reviews Forum. OK?
