Pete,
I am not familiar with that one, but it is one of the run-of-the-mill Taiwan jobs. The main thing I would check for is the horsepower of the motor. A 1/2 is adequate for light, soft wood, but for oak, etc. you need a bigger motor.

HF mortiser! $50.

I know someone here has one, how does it perform? or, for $50, shoule I bother being concerned about that???
I have that one and it does a very good job. I will warn you that the hold down fence is the pits. However, I bought a $40 x-y vise from HF and used it to replace the fence. It works like a charm and is very easy to cut accurate mortises. For $50 you can't go wrong. If you get it and want more info on the x-y vise let me know.
