UPDATE: Saw fixed
Problem-

Solution-
IMG_21131.jpg

ground off the remains of the broken part
Drilled out a hole as close to the same center as I could
inserted a roll pin of the same diameter
stuck it back in the saw
works

Tension OFF

Tension ON

Tried to position the slot in the roll pin so it didn't interfere with the cam follower as it turned.
So far so good.

Put the saw back together after a thorough cleaning, installed the blade and tensioned it.
Simple straight cut in 4/4 poplar worked fine.

I did make a detailed dimensioned drawing in case this fails and I need to have one made

Thanks for all the suggestions. These pics are in my gallery in case anyone needs them for future reference.

If the roll pin fails, try to find some oil hardening drill rod of the same diameter. It will be solid throughout and you may get better service from it, but it looks like your current fix is working for now.

There's not a lot of meat left where I drilled the casting for the pin.
My guess is that's what will go if/when it goes.

If the pin itself fails, I'll give drill rod a shot.
Thanks

Another option is to tap casting, and use a grade 8 bolt with head cut off.

Be sure to use locktite if you choose this route so there is no movement and eventual loosening of the bolt in the casting.

(GREAT idea Bruce!)
