    Play Planks

A while ago I asked some questions about "giant licoln logs". That lead me to this article: http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2006/08/23/plywood-play-planks/ This project takes a fair amount plywood and I couldn't decide how much I wanted to spend on it. Then I saw a craigslist add for Arauco...

    Play time with Scott Smith

Last week I made the big decision to take the Festool plunge. Well, at least for a couple of sanders and a dust extractor. After almost 42 years of this obsession, I figure I've inhaled enough sawdust. :confused_ But before I make the final commitment, I wanted to do a little "hands on"...

    Play Time......

Many years ago I had made a marble board just for the heck of it, as it turned out we have been playing on that same board very frequently, some times several times a week, my 82 year old mother in-law just loves the game. Some people call the game aggravation, wa-hoo and a few more... we just...

Too much play in vise screw

I attempted to make a twin screw vice (not synchronized like lee valley) using a couple of vise screws, but the outer face has too much play and doesn't hold boards that aren't very deep well. One thing I did wrong was I didn't taper the the outer face. I have now fixed that, but I would still...

Time to play "Name that Plane"

So I am about to restore another plane that was given to me. Best I can tell, it is an older, low angle block plane. There is no writing on the plane that I can see. The broken knob is made of Bakelite. Does anybody recognize this plane?

Jet Jointer Free play on infeed table wheel

I have used this jointer for about 10 years and flattened thousands of board feet, but now there is a gradual freeplay in the infeed handle.. I have to turn the handle almost a full 360 degrees to make any change in the infeed table height.. Does anyone know how I tighten up this freeplay...

Got to play in a big shop today!

I went over to visit Jim in Mayberry this morning and got to play with his power tools, table saw, band saw, router, sander and grinder. We had a great time together and made a zero clearance insert for his tablesaw. Here's the proof... Looks pretty simple till you turn it over...

    Kid's Play table, WIP

Since Mike Davis has been pointing out how few WIP posts there were lately and FredP has been poking me about where I am on this project I decided to start a thread. :rotflm::rotflm: I finally got a little more done on it and got some pics. Here's a rather long run down of where I am currently...

    Pay for play

I know, I know, it's just another Picnic thread, but don't stop reading now that I've got your attention:gar-La;. As far as the picnic goes I know there are people that prefer pay to play ( as in admission costs), I am one of them and I think it's easier, but that's not the way it's done here...

Play Table for my kids (WIP)

Well, I started this over a month ago but it has sat idle since then ... until this past weekend. I started working on it again. It's main made with scraps found around the shop -- white oak, brazillian cherry, hickory (and who knows what else I'll use). In the end it will be a table for my...

    Play Time

:gar-Bi Hi All, just thought I'd post a few pix. Here's a bench I built today. I like these, they go together in a hurry and they look real good, especially with a back on'em. The little tables are cool to. I get a kick out of making them too. :gar-La; How ya'll like them Glow Sticks...

Time to play "Guess The Number" again

got 2 small pieces of curly eastern red cedar that I trimmed off some deck wood. One peice is 11" long x 5" wide, the other is 8" long x 7" wide both are 1" thick, no pith - good pen blank or knife scale stuff here. Since so many members have turned to the dark side. This time I'm thinking...

Bandsaw box project play by play - pics

Yesterday while making a little project in the shop, I thought it would be cool to show the main steps in making it. I am in no way an expert or even good at this type or project, especially the one made yesterday. But you could learn from my mistakes. So here it goes........The Birth of a...
