Yes, it is a heart on the end of the handle. I was thinking about carving something on there and my daughter said she just loved that wood, so I carved the heart.

The finish is the same I use on all my spoons, cold pressed organic flax seed oil..

The color surprised me too. That whole board is that color. Very pink.
